Accelerated (4+1) MSCN Pathway

The Accelerated (4+1) MSCN Pathway provides motivated undergraduate students pursuing the B.S. in nutrition & dietetics the opportunity to complete a bachelor’s and master’s degree in as little as five years. Specifically, UW–Madison undergraduate students that graduate with their nutrition & dietetics bachelor degree in either the fall or spring semester can complete the Masters of Science in Clinical Nutrition (MSCN) within just 12 months following graduation.

UW–Madison students enrolled in the nutritional sciences B.S. degree may petition to enroll in the Accelerated MSCN Pathway, and their application will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

    Application & Admission

Undergraduate students that are interested should indicate their interest at the time of application from pre-dietetics to ADI status. After committee review, approved students will meet with their ADI advisor and be given permission to enroll in selective MSCN courses during their final year of study. The deadline for consideration is the same as ADI applications:

    • July 5 for fall admission
    • January 5 for spring admission

Accelerated MSCN Pathway students should then apply for the MSCN program in their final semester of study in the nutrition & dietetics bachelor’s degree by submitting an official UW-Madison Graduate School Application. Please note, Accelerated MSCN Pathway students that have an overall GPA of at least 3.00 at the time of the application to the Graduate School will be automatically recommended for admission into the MSCN degree program.
