Geriatrics, Gerontology, and Nutrition
Nathan B. Johnson, Ph.D. is both a Research Associate in the Division of Geriatrics & Gerontology in the Department of Medicine and a Faculty Associate in the Department of Nutritional Sciences. In addition to teaching in the field of nutrition for more than 17 years, he has conducted research looking at the structure and function of G protein coupled receptors, elucidated mechanisms of mammalian iron metabolism, and is currently working to identify metabolic pathways involved in aging. He received his B.S. in Food Science and Technology and M.S. in Nutrition from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and his Ph.D. in Nutrition with an emphasis in Biochemical and Molecular Nutrition from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
